  • Under 14 Challenge Series (7th April 2017)

    Tim Hart writes, “I have sent a letter to club’s Junior Convenors for players about the Under 14 Challenge Series.  If convenors know of any players at their clubs who they think might be interested in taking part in the series please could they forward this letter on to them.”

  • Ammar Ashraf wins ICC award (4th April 2017)

    East Renfrewshire CC‘s Ammar Ashar has been recognised by the ICC for the work he has done, and continues to do, in and around East Renfrewshire.  You can watch former England Captain Alastair Cook’s tribute to Ammar online.  Many congratulations to Ammar on his award.

  • National Secondary Schools Cup (31st March 2017)

    Tim Hart writes, “Nine schools from throughout the west region have entered the 2017 National Secondary Schools Cup.  The competition runs on a knockout basis during April, May and early June – with the west region section winners going on to represent the region at the national finals, in Perth, in mid-June.  Thanks to all school staff who have enabled their school to enter the competition, thanks in advance to any clubs who are supporting their local school – and good luck to all the schools in the competition.”

  • Under 12 inter-area tournament, 2017 (31st March 2017)

    Tim Hart writes, “Five area cricket development groups have entered the 2017 Under 12 inter-area development tournament.  The tournament continues to be about trying to provide additional opportunities for players to develop through playing matches.  As with last year, the 2017 tournament will have an eight-a-side format – however, teams may agree to make their matches eleven-a-side.  The length of the matches has changed too, with all official tournament matches now being T20s.  It is also hoped that it might be possible for two of the planned fixture dates to run in a ‘Super Day’ format, where three teams would each play two matches.  Full details are available online here.”

  • West development manager update (24th March 2017)

    Tim Hart has circulated his March update on what’s going on in here in the west in community development.  His update was sent to clubs’ Junior Convenors, and there’s a copy here online.

  • Glasgow Schools Cricket Association competition entries (24th March 2017)

    Tony Coyle writes, “It’s that time of year again – please find attached the entry form for the Glasgow Schools Cricket Association summer tournaments for juniors (Under 15) and seniors (Under 18).  I’d be most grateful for an intimation of junior entries by the last week of April in the first instance – senior entries can be firmed up at a later point in the term.”

  • “All Stars Cricket” (23rd March 2017)

    Tim Hart writes, “Launched on Monday the 20th of March, All Stars Cricket aims to inspire five to eight year old children to take up the sport through a fun first experience of the game.

    The Cricket Scotland eight-week programme begins in May and will see participating boys and girls develop their skills and make new friends in a safe and inclusive environment at one of fourteen west-based cricket clubs who have signed up to host and run the sessions.  For more information please visit the All Stars Cricket website or contact either of the West Region ‘All Star Champions’ myself or Rosy Ryan.”

  • Cricket Scotland school cup competitions, 2017 (20th March 2017)

    Tim Hart writes “Cricket Scotland has a range of school cup competitions on offer for 2017, for both boys and girls. The following competitions are running and full details, including entry forms, are available online.

    “The competitions are: ScotRail Primary Schools Cup (primary six and below), Girls Primary Schools Tournament, Secondary School Girls Cup (senior one to three), Cricket Factory BIG Blast! (senior one to three), National Secondary Schools Cup – T20 (senior one to three), and Secondary School Girls Cup (senior four to six).  Please note that the entry form for all the girls’ competitions is included within the west region overview document.  If anyone has any queries please get in contact with me.”

  • Western Warriors Under 14 tri-series (16th March 2017)

    Tim Hart writes, “The annual Under 14 triangular series, which sees the Western Warriors Under 14s play against Belfast and Edinburgh, will again be held in 2017.  The matches will take place on Monday the 7th and Tuesday the 8th of August – and the west Regional Development Centre is delighted that Prestwick Cricket Club had agreed to host the festival once again, at its Henry Thow Oval ground.”

  • Western Warriors Under 15 fixtures (16th March 2017)

    Tim Hart writes, “Following on from the announcement of the 2017 Western Warriors Under 15 training squad, the west Regional Development Centre is now able to reveal the vast majority of its fixture programme for the season.  Dates have been agreed for five out the six Cricket Scotland Under 15 Inter-Regional Championships matches and for the Under 15 T20 day.  These matches will see the Warriors play the Caledonian Highlanders and the Eastern Knights.  A date for the sixth inter-regional match is close to being agreed – and it is hoped that a couple of other fixtures may be added into the programme too.”
