Monday night results [posted 17/06/13] Monday nights see Under 13 and Under 18 league games scheduled, and tonight was no different. However, at the time of posting, the only two Under 13 League match returns submitted were the two provisional concessions. Clydesdale CC and Prestwick CC were the two clubs left without opposition as - respectively - Glasgow Accies CC and Helensburgh CC were unable to fulfill the scheduled matches.
In the older age-group category, results have come in. These report on Victoria CC's big win over the Uddingston|East Kilbride combined side, Clydesdale CC's win over the Kelburne|Greenock combined side, Drumpellier CC's defeat of West of Scotland CC, and Prestwick CC's victory at Shawholm against Poloc CC. The match on Glasgow's southside was the closest match-up on the night, with the youngsters from Ayrshire winning by 14 runs. Batting first, victors Prestwick CC posted 112 for 5, with Gregor Cairns top-scoring with 38. The home side's run-chase finished 14 runs short, Calum Stout's 53 being in vain, as Mitchell Rao took 3 for 17. The other three margins of victory were much greater: Drumpellier CC's win was by 99 runs, Abdul Sabri's 67, Kerr Davidson's 41 and Ayyaz Qasim's 30 not out being the largest components of a first innings score of 174 for 3. In reply West of Scotland CC made just 75, Andrew Galloway scoring 36, Qasim taking 6 for 23, including a hat-trick! Clydesdale CC's win at Whitehaugh was a 43-run win, Adil Ghaffar's 73 not out the stand-out individual innings. As the Kelburne|Greenock combined side looked to chase down 126 for the win, Gregor Anderson's figures of 4-0-8-3 was one of the main reasons they failed in their task. And in the final reported match, Victoria CC defeated the Uddingston|East Kilbride combined team at Bellahouston by 62 runs. 137 for 8 batting first proved more than enough for the win, Saqib (46) and Musawer (44) both making meaningful contributions with the bat for the home side. In reply Saad ("4-for") and Hussain ("3-for") ripped through the visitors' batting line-up, the combined side slumping to 75 all out. Friday night results [posted 14/06/13] Two Under 11 matches failed to beat the late afternoon rain: the games at Titwood and The Tryst being the two casualties. Another game didn't make it either, but for different reasons as Stirling County CC recorded a provisional concession under league rules as they couldn't fulfil their scheduled trip to Whitehaugh this evening. But there were games played. At Hamilton Crescent, the home side won the West End derby with Glasgow Accies CC, West of Scotland CC winning by 14 runs. Over on the city's southside there was another completed match, Poloc CC beating Prestwick CC by 30 runs. Moiz Maqsood (4-1-5-1) and Nabeel Khan (4-2-3-1) led the way for the Shawholm youngsters, Fletcher Rao (19 not out) top-scoring for the visitors. Then in the home side's innings the Mehmood brothers, Samee and Hassan, scored 31 not out between them to see their side to the win. Uddingston CC were also winners on the night, recording their win at Meikleriggs against Ferguslie CC by 25 runs. Gary Baird (24) and Euan Cowan (33) top-scored for Uddingston CC, whilst Ahmed, with 20, was the home side's best performer with the bat.
In the Under 15 League, all three scheduled fixtures were completed. Ayr CC beat Greenock CC by five wickets, West of Scotland CC completed the double over Glasgow Accies CC on the night with a nine-wicket win, and Hillhead CC defeated Prestwick CC by four wickets. All three games therefore saw the side batting second end up with the win points. Individual performances on note in the older age-group were Ayr CC's Matthew Baines (3 for 16), West of Scotland CC's Qureshi (3 for 6) and Robbie McCallum (3 for 12), and Hillhead CC's Jack Holland (3 for 17) and Basit Mehraban (3 for 9). And on a matchday where the ball arguably dominated the bat, no batter was reported as having scored 30 or more. Full league results are online here, as well as on our Twitter feed. Greenock CC combined with Kelburne CC in Under 18 league [posted 12/06/13] Greenock CC Under 18s, who recently withdrew from the Under 18 League, have now agreed to combined with Kelburne CC to play a combined Under 18 side for the remainder of the 2013 season. This will allow Under 18 players at Greenock CC to play cricket they would otherwise not have been able to. The combined side will fulfil Kelburne CC’s league fixtures, the side’s default “home” ground being Whitehaugh in Paisley. It is possible that the side might try and play some matches at Glenpark in Greenock, but opposition teams must agree to this having been asked in advance. Therefore, unless otherwise agreed between clubs, “home” games will be at Kelburne CC. The results and league tables have been amended accordingly.
Monday night results [posted 10/06/13] There were games - as usual - in the Under 13 and Under 18 age-group leagues this evening. In the Under 18 League Ayr CC gained the win points as a result of West of Scotland CC's provisional concession in the scheduled match between the sides. Another concession on the night saw Irvine CC conceded for the second week in a row, this time to the Uddingston|East Kilbride combined team. Poloc CC meanwhile recorded a win in double-quick time at Bellahouston where they bowled Victoria CC out for just 30, before scoring 1 more in just over four overs without losing a wicket. Other Under 18 winners on the night were Prestwick CC, (who saw off the challenge from Drumpellier CC), Ferguslie CC (victors over Clydesdale CC) and Glasgow Accies CC (who beat Renfrew CC). Individual performances of note in this older age-group included Andrew Mullen's 43 and Saif Sajjad's 42 in Renfrew CC's losing cause against Glasgow Accies CC, a match that saw Dhruv Satpute take a "5-for" and score 35, and teammates John Oliver (48) and Euan Stewart( 42*) also get amongst the runs. At Bellahouston, Poloc CC's Akhil Ahmed also took a "5-for". Ferguslie CC's win at Titwood saw a half century for Alistair Preston-Jones (56) as well as Michael English making 37 and Hamza Tahir grabbing a "3-for". And in the match at the Henry Thow Oval, Prestwick CC's "Overseas Amateur" Jean-Pierre Areasmus scored 83 not out, and took 3 for 14, to steer his side to victory. There was also a "3-for" from James Miller, whilst Nic Pyne scored 30 for the visitors from Langloan.
Fewer match returns were submitted on the night in the Under 13 League, in fact only two. These told of another thumping win for West of Scotland CC, this week winning by "only" 77 runs against Ayr CC. West of Scotland CC did however rack up another very large score (150-1) with two batters retiring (Tom Barrett and Callum Coats), and Aidan Fitzgerald (26*) and Angus Guy (26*) also "in the runs". Ayr CC's best batting effort was Harry Boyd's 23. Coats, for West of Scotland CC, also recorded a "3-for" with ball in hand in the Ayr CC innings. At Shawholm meanwhile, Abtaha Maqsood's unbeaten 27 was the main contribution in Poloc CC setting Helensburgh CC 119 to win, a target the Ardencaple youngsters feel some way short of in their run-chase.

Friday night results [posted 07/06/13] All bar one Under 15 League match result was submitted this evening at the time of posting. Ayr CC beat West of Scotland CC comfortably at New Cambusdoon with 69 not out from Shuja Khan being the main score in Ayr CC's 146 for 4. In reply West of Scotland CC made 114 for 5, with Alex Ewing's unbeaten 46 being the game's other meaningful individual score. At the Henry Thow Oval, Glasgow Accies CC got some revenge for Glasgow's west end clubs against Ayrshire opposition as they ran out eight-wicket winners over Prestwick CC in a low-scoring game, Oliver's 37 being the individual batting performance of note. And there was another win on the night for the west end with Hillhead CC's also recording an easy eight-wicket win, Poloc CC being the beaten club in this one. Lewis James's 51 wasn't enough for the Shawholm side to post more than 99 for 9 batting first, a total Hillhead CC chased down inside fourteen overs with Basit Mehraban's 60 not out seeing his side home.
In the younger Under 11 age-group, only three results had been reported by the end of the evening, Uddingston CC beating Kelburne CC, Clydesdale CC winning against Weirs CC, and Poloc CC defeating East Kilbride CC. Uddingston CC's win at Whitehaugh was by the margin of 24 runs, Gary Baird taking a "4-for" for the visitors, Riess Wylie a hat-trick for the home side. Baird also scored an unbeaten 21. In the southside derby, Clydesdale CC ran out 120-run winners with their batters in full cry. Daniel Cairns (40*), Struan Walker (38) and Taha Khan (24) were all in the runs. The match at Torrance House was much closer however, East Kilbride CC and Poloc CC scoring the same number of runs, but the home side losing by 10 runs due to losing two more wickets. For the winning Poloc CC side, Sohaib Shah took a "3-for". Full league results are online here, as well as on our Twitter feed. Updated league tables here.
Drumpellier CC pull out of Under 11 league [posted 05/06/13] Drumpellier CC’s Under 11 are pulling out of this season’s Under 11 league. They have not fulfilled any matches this season as yet, conceding four matches with the other two being cancelled, and would have been conceding a fifth match this coming Friday against Renfrew CC. As a consequence all scheduled Under 11 matches against Drumpellier CC are void for league purposes, and clubs scheduled to play them will now have a bye week. It is hoped that player numbers at Drumpellier CC in the Under 11 age-group might pick up over the reminder of the season and, as such, there might be scope for friendlies against them to be played over the coming months. The club will keep the league and other clubs advised in this regard. The results and league tables have been amended accordingly.
Monday night results [posted 03/06/13] It was Under 13 and 18 league action across the west district this evening, with matches being played in warm sunshine for a change. In the younger age-group, Prestwick CC beat local rivals Ayr CC by 10 runs in the night's closest encounter, Turner's unbeaten 31 being the main contribution in Prestwick CC's innings of 100 for 5. Then, despite a couple of 23s from Richie Simpson and Davidson for Ayr CC, it was the home side, Prestwick CC, who ran out winners. Poloc CC were also winners on the night, beating the Uddingston|Drumpellier combined side by 52 runs at Bothwell Castle Policies. Uzzair Shah (30*) and Calum James (34*) both retired for the visitors, as did Ahmed (31*) for the combined side, and Poloc CC's Rorie McWilliam recorded a "4-for". Another big win was recorded at Hamilton Crescent where Under 13 League Cup winners West of Scotland CC thumped near-neighbours Glasgow Accies CC by no fewer than 123 runs. Batting first the home side amassed 195 for 1 with four batters getting to 30 and retiring: Callum Coats, Robbie McCallum, Tom Barrett and Angus Guy. And of note is the fact that the wicket fell on the last ball of the innings! In reply, Glasgow Accies CC were restricted to 72 for 7.
In the older age-group games, five results are known at the time of "going to press". Victoria CC's win over Irvine CC came as a result of a concession by the Ayrshire side over the weekend. In the games that were played there were wins for Ayr CC, Glasgow Accies CC, Renfrew CC and the Uddingston|East Kilbride combined side. Ayr CC's win over Prestwick CC was a counter-balance to the result in these two clubs' Under 13 league clash also played this evening, this game seeing a nine-wicket win. There were runs for Shujaa Khan 47 and wickets for Robbie Henderson (4-0-16-5) in this game. Another revenge scoreline was at New Anniesland where the home side comfortably defeated West of Scotland CC just as the result was being reversed in the corresponding Under 13 match at Hamilton Crescent. Glasgow Accies CC won the Under 18 match by nine wickets, Dhruv Satpute scoring 34 not out and taking a "3-for". For West of Scotland CC, Ewing scored an unbeaten 35. At Whitehaugh it was nine against nine in the Kelburne CC versus Renfrew CC match. Renfrew CC won the game by seven wickets, with Saif Sajjad (34) and David Graham (35*) top-scoring in Renfrew CC's run-chase. Javed had earlier taken a "3-for" in the Kelburne CC innings. The final Under 18 result submitted this evening saw the Uddingston|East Kilbride combined side beat Poloc CC by ten wickets at Shawholm. 92 for 7 was never going to be enough for the home side, and the visitors rchased the required runs down with just over three overs to spare, Gavin Meikle scoring 50 not out, and Ryan Dunne an unbeaten 33.
