Schools cricket update

Tim Hart reports, “Despite the weather, Hutchesons’ Grammar School (‘HGS’) and Kelvinside Academy (‘KA’) somewhat remarkably managed to complete their quarter-final tie in the CityLets national Secondary Schools Cup (for players in S1 to S3). Played at Auldhouse in Thornliebank in Glasgow (pictured below), on the artificial wicket, KA batted first and scored 38 for 7 off their fourteen overs. In reply, an older and more experienced HGS team made quick work of the chase – reaching 39, for the loss of one wicket, in 7.3 overs. However, huge congratulations must go to both sets of players, and the umpires, for battling through the steady drizzle to get the match completed! HGS will now be at home to winners of the Holyrood Secondary School versus Belmont Academy match in the first semi-final.”
