Western Warriors Under 14s – update

Tim Hart reports, “The Western Warriors Under 14s hosted the Scotland Women Under 21s at Meikleriggs (Ferguslie CC) on Wednesday the 18th of July. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, resulting on the Warriors immediately having to face up to teammate Anne Sturgess (Clydesdale CC)! Sturgess would top score with 18, as Scotland Women Under 21s were bowled out for 83, in the 32nd over. The effort with ball featured a possibly unique achievement, as all eight (!) different Warriors bowlers took wickets! There were two each for Ibrahim Faisal (Clydesdale CC) and Aditya Mahapatra (Ferguslie CC) and one each for Uzair Ahmad (Ferguslie CC), James Cathcart (Poloc CC), John Greene (Glasgow Accies CC), Caelan Lang (Helensburgh CC), Hasan Malik and Shahan Raja (both Poloc CC).

“In reply, despite the loss of two early wickets, Lukas Fischer-Keogh (Greenock CC) and skipper Nikhil Koteeswaran (Clydesdale CC) saw the side home with a very confident, and unbroken, partnership of 64 – Fischer-Keogh top scoring with 34* (off 57) and Koteeswaran making 23* (off 31).

“The Scotland Women Under 21s were hit by a couple of late call-offs very early on the Wednesday morning, so special mention should also go to Bahahar Esakhiel (Ferguslie CC) who substitute batted for the visitors and to Ahmad who helped out by wicket-keeping during the second innings, during which time he stumped teammate Saifullah Ahmadzai (Clydesdale CC)! Overall, it was a good run out for the Warriors prior to their upcoming Under 14 inter-regional championship fixture against the Caledonian Highlanders and the T20 Day – and thanks must go to Ferguslie CC for hosting and to umpires Mike Nash and Gordon Whitelaw for standing.”
