Rosy Ryan, writes, “Nominations from clubs, for the Western Warriors Under 16 women’s squad for 2018-19 are being sought. There will be two trials held on Sunday, 18 November 2018 and Sunday, 2 December 2018 at Hutchesons’ Grammar School Sports Hall between 4pm and 6pm. Nominees should come on both of these dates.
“The Western Warriors Under 16 women is the regional team for the west of Scotland and will compete in summer fixtures against three other Under 16 women’s squads: Caledonian North Highlanders, Caledonian South Highlanders and Eastern Knights. These fixtures will form part of the selection process for the Scotland Under 17 girls. For more information about the female player pathway please see the online document.
“Players must be under 16 on 1 September 2018. As we continue to grow numbers in women’s cricket, please be aware that last year we had players as young as 12 in the squad. It is essential that players have hardball experience and are keen to develop their cricket further.
“Please also be aware that as our numbers and programmes, both in participation and performance, continue to grow, clashes between practices and fixtures are unavoidable. We do our very best to keep them to a minimum and avoid clashes with large numbers of players overlapping.
“Clubs should send nominees’ names, dates of birth, contact email addresses and a short description of their cricketing experience and/or achievements with a description of players’ role within the club team (for example top-order RH bat, off-spin bowler, wicket-keeper:batters, etc).
“If selected after the trial process, players will have to commit to the following indoor programme that will start in January.
“A winter training programme consisting of seven indoor training sessions on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon between 4pm and 6pm at Hutchesons’ Grammar School Sports Centre on the following dates:
Sundays 13 and 27 January 2019;
Sundays 10 and 24 February 2019;
Saturdays 16 and 23 March 2019; and
Sunday 14 April 2019.
“This will be followed by summer training of which the dates/venues are still to be confirmed. The player contribution to cost of the programme for the whole year is £60, and players will receive branded t-shirt, zip top jumper and playing/training trousers.
“The 2018-19 coaching and management team is as follows:
Lead coach: Ramzan Mohammed
Assistant Coach: Rosy Ryan
Team Manager: Rosy Ryan
“If anything is unclear, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. We look forward to receiving nominations for the trial dates.”
